Cognitive Ability Testing

Cognitive aptitude assessments provide a measure of an individual’s learning speed. Cognitive ability testing is the single best predictor of job performance. Matching an individual’s strength in numerical, verbal or spatial reasoning to those required in a particular job is vital to making a good hiring decision.

There are four dimensions of mental abilities...

  • General Mental Ability: Measures a person's overall capacity to deal with ideas, solve problems and assimilate new information. It is an indication of how well a person thinks ahead to anticipate the effects of actions and decisions and how quickly he or she learns.
  • Working with Numbers: An evaluation of numerical reasoning ability. It reflects an individual’s capacity to assimilate and reason with numerical information or data.
  • Working with Words: Relates to reasoning with and using written and spoken language. It can also provide an indication of an individual’s writing and communication skills.
  • Working with Shapes: A measure of spatial reasoning, or how well a person is able to mentally manipulate objects, both physically and visually. It is an indication of a person's ability to think and reason in three dimensions.
